June 4th Museum

The "June 4th Museum" ((中国語:六四紀念館)) is the world's first memorial museum for the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 that happened in Beijing, China. The permanent museum is located in Hong Kong, and is organized by the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China. It opened on 26 April 2014, shortly before the 25th anniversary of the incident.
==Purpose==
The purpose of the museum is to give residents from mainland China an opportunity to learn more about the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, the history of which is censored in China outside Hong Kong. Local residents can also explore the history of democracy and freedom in China.
